LOS ANGELES – October 26, 2018 – Last night’s broadcast of Telemundo’s 2018 “Latin American Music Awards” dominated Spanish-language TV in primetime, averaging over 1.1 million adults 18-49 and above 2.3 million total viewers, according to Nielsen, ranking as the network’s top primetime special among total viewers for 2018 year-to-date. Telemundo ranked as #1 Spanish-language network in prime among total viewers, adults 18-49 and 18-34, and outperformed the combined audience of Univision and UniMas among adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 by +70% in both demos, and among total viewers by +53%. The show reached a cumulative audience of over 4.8 million total viewers, including 2.2 million adults 18-49 with the simulcast on Telemundo and Universo. In addition, Telemundo was the #1 network across broadcast and cable regardless of language with entertainment programming among adults 18-34.
Locally, the “Latin American Music Awards” drove Telemundo to rank as the #1 broadcast network in the show’s daypart regardless of language among adults 18-49 in Los Angeles, New York and Miami. Additionally, Latin AMA’s ranked as #1 non-sports program in its daypart, regardless of language, among adults 18-49 in Houston and Dallas.
On social media, the Latin AMAs, hosted by Aracely Arambula, Becky G, Gloria Trevi, Leslie Grace and Roselyn Sanchez, ranked as the #1 most social program of the day across all broadcast and cable networks yesterday, according to Nielsen Social. The 2018 Latin AMAs saw significant increase in user engagement, generating over 2.4 million votes, an increase of 160% vs. prior year.
The show featured 13 impressive musical presentations, including the much-anticipated reunion of Wisin and Yandel, a show-stopping tribute to breast cancer survivors by Daddy Yankee and electrifying performances by CNCO, Becky G, Leslie Grace, Maluma and many others.
